Anand Station is Finland's only club of Indian music, and it's the best party in town - at least if you're a fan of Indian music, cinema and popular culture. The club is hosted by Shava, which is guaranteed to be the world's only Finnish-Indian bhangra group. Shava plays music which is meant for fun and dancing, and Shava's gigs are a proof that their unique blend of Bollywood-bhangra dance beats with Finnish attitude and language works perfectly to free your mind and your pelvis and to make you get up and dance. The Bengali vocalist mrs. Peali Mitra will provide the authentic Indian flavor for Shava’s performance.

Other performers if the club in November include Qawwali Brothers, another unique group performimg mystical sufi qawwalis in the footsteps of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and other great sufi singers from the Indian subcontinent. Qawwali Brothers’ performance featuring white skinned Finnish musicians performing music based on Islamic poetry about love and unity is a perfect antidote for the uneasiness and xenophobia caused by the world’s current political situation! For the late evening we have DJ Markka, a well-known radio journalist and DJ who has collaborated with many of Finland’s best musicians. Markka’s debut with Indian music was a performance with Kiureli Sammallahti at the Helsinki Festival Weeks this August for an enthusiastic audience of several thousand. At Anand Station, Markka will be collaborating with the musicians performing at the club.

The club in November will be co-organized with the Global Music Centre as part of the Etnosoi World Music Festival.
